READY SET COURAGE

Creating confidence through experience.

Medical procedures and new experiences can be overwhelming, especially for neurodivergent children, who may experience unique sensory, communication, and emotional challenges.

At Ready Set Courage, we're developing hands-on tools and immersive experiences that help children explore, understand, and prepare for medical procedures before they happen.

Our goal is simple: Less uncertainty. More confidence.

A Little Preparation Can Make a Big Difference

For many children, the hardest part of a medical procedure is not knowing what to expect. Unfamiliar equipment, new surroundings, and unexpected sensations can create anxiety for children and their families.

For neurodiverse children, these challenges can be especially significant. Sensory sensitivities, communication differences, and unfamiliar medical environments can make accessing healthcare more difficult.

We believe that giving children the opportunity to explore and understand these experiences ahead of time can help reduce uncertainty and build confidence. Through play, visual storytelling, and immersive technology, we're working to make medical experiences more approachable and accessible for neurodiverse children and their families.

We combine hands-on learning, visual storytelling, and immersive technology to help children become familiar with medical environments and procedures.

Explore Through Play

Our Ready Sets are realistic, 3D-printed models of medical equipment and environments. Children can safely explore the models, ask questions, and practice what to expect through guided play.

Understand Through Stories

Our visual social stories use simple, step-by-step narratives and pictures to introduce children to what they'll see, hear, and experience during a medical visit. By making unfamiliar situations more predictable, these stories can help children feel more prepared.

Experience Before the Experience

Using virtual reality, children can explore actual medical spaces before their visit, helping unfamiliar surroundings feel more familiar.

Together, these tools are designed to reduce anxiety, support positive interactions with healthcare providers, and help children and families approach medical procedures with greater confidence.

How It Works

Small Tools. Big Possibilities.

Ready Set Courage was founded by Grant and Amelia, lifelong friends who have known each other since kindergarten. Through years of volunteering in pediatric healthcare settings, they've seen firsthand the challenges children and families can face when navigating medical experiences.

Grant brings a love of design and technology to the organization, developing realistic 3D models of medical environments and equipment, along with visual resources that help children understand what to expect. Amelia combines her creativity and design skills with a focus on building the organization, developing partnerships, and expanding access to these resources.

With support from healthcare professionals and experienced advisors, Ready Set Courage is developing its first programs to help children prepare for medical procedures, with a broader vision of making unfamiliar experiences more accessible through innovative, hands-on tools.
